House Of Harlow Ring Questions

Harlow Council – how long will i have to wait?
I recently sent in a review form for my local council telling them that i had just had a baby and it is now a month and a half later and they haven’t changed my band from band 4. I’m currently in shared accommodation and the baby, me and his father are all sharing 1 room which is barely big enough for 2 without a load of baby stuff.
Should i ring them up and make a fuss?
or should i leave it and wait for them to update my entitlement?
Before you make any comments about having a baby without first having a house or job it’s too late now isn’t it? because my son is already here.
They won’t have lost it in the mail because i actually handed it into the council office
Unfortunately according to the following which is on the Harlow Council website housing section the eligibility ruling to be in Band 3 is as follows.
“An occupant of a one bedroom flat where parent/s have to share their bedroom with a child aged 5 or older.”
If they were going to change your banding they would have sent you notice at approximately 21 days (according to the website)
The fact you are living in shared accommodation which I assume means more than one family in the same house and are therefore sharing a kitchen and bathroom may raise a health and safety issue and is definitely worth looking into.

You need to go down to the Housing department, ask if they have had your review and also what the options are. Have you considered asking for a transfer which may get you at least larger accommodation.
